Le Ouest Coast

Our Mobile Unit

Prevention · Intervention · Awareness

The West Island of Montreal is a vast territory where transportation often poses a major challenge for vulnerable populations. To address this reality, we launched Le Ouest Coast, a mobile vehicle designed to reach out directly to youth in the West Island.

Meeting Youth Where They Are

In response to transportation barriers, AJOI moves to where the needs are. Inspired by best practices in outreach street work, this mobile service creates a consistent, safe and accessible landmark across our territory. Our outreach street and intervention workers go out to meet youth, building lasting relationships of trust.

An Accessible And Safe Living Space

A true safe space for youth aged 14 to 35, Le Ouest Coast is confidential, inclusive and completely free. Whether it is to talk with the team, receive support or simply chill, access to the vehicle is open, voluntary and guaranteed judgment-free. Everyone is welcome.

Places We Visit

To ensure maximum accessibility, our mobile unit strategically parks near natural gathering hubs, including:

  • Parks

  • Schools

  • Community centers

  • Public spaces across the West Island

What You'll Find on Board

Koda

A Tailored Welcome!

Canine presence on board: Meet Koda!

Le Ouest Coast has the immense privilege of having Koda, our canine partner, as an official member of the intervention team. Koda’s presence on board aims to:

  • Promote a sense of calm and help regulate emotions

  • Reduce stress and anxiety for beneficiaries

  • Ease initial contact and strengthen the bond of trust between youth and the team

Comfort and safety above all

The safety, comfort and well-being of youth remain our absolute priority.

If anyone feels uncomfortable around dogs or has allergies, Koda will be safely kept away using a designated tether for the entire duration of their visit.

No compromises are made when it comes to your comfort!
